The tank cap can still be opened without any problems when the tank ring is fitted. However, compared to the Lock-it tank ring, the Basic tank ring only locks mechanically. With the Lock-it tank ring, the magnets help with centering. The difference lies purely in the two magnetic or plastic domes that are screwed onto the tank ring. The actual model-specific "metal ring" is the same for both versions. Notes: A tank bag with Lock-it counterholder cannot be mounted on a BASIC tank ring and vice versa. The tank bag counterholder and tank ring must be from the same system.
